Cardiac Biomarkers for Unstable Angina (Abbott Choline Study):  
 

Overview: A study designed to determine if troponin levels can predict unstable angina in cardiac patients

Study Endpoints: 1. Troponin levels drawn

Eligible Patients: 18 or older, has chest pain or shortness of breath and will have troponin labs drawn (shortness of breath should be due to cardiac problems)

Study Design: Prospective, observational trial

Potential Risks: none  
 

Research Associate’s Role: The RA is responsible for identifying potential patients and notifying the PMP and/or nurse if the patient is eligible. The RA should locate a study packet (in Team Center A and B in bags) and present it to either the PMP or nurse. 
 

Physician’s Role: The PMP or nurse will be responsible for consenting the patient and also drawing an additional 5 tubes of blood during the time in which the patient is receiving their troponin labs drawn.
