Longitudinal Pain Surveys: Data Sheet, Study Flow, Data Collection Tips, FAQs
 

Overview:  A suite of studies that seeks to examine future access of the health care system and the natural history of the disease process by patients who present to the ED with back pain, headaches, and extremity pain.
 

Primary Endpoints: 1. Patient pain as assessed by VAS 2. physician perception of patient pain as assessed by VAS.

Eligible Patients: Patients who present to the ED with headache, back pain, or extremity pain.

Study Design: Prospective observational trial

Research Associate’s Role: Research Associates are responsible for identifying eligible patients for this study and recruiting them.
 

Physician’s Role: Once the patient has been discharged, the PMP is to answer a set of questions pertaining to their perception of their interaction with the patient, the degree to which the patient’s history matches the pain reported by the patient, and the likelihood that the patient came to the ED seeking drugs for non-medicinal purposes.
